The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, introduced in 2003, is the result of a collaboration between two motorsport legends - McLaren and Mercedes-Benz - uniting Formula 1 technology, German engine power and British engineering precision. The SLR name stands for Sport, Leicht, Rennsport. Under the bonnet sits a 5.4-litre supercharged V8 developed by AMG, producing 626 hp and 780 Nm, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed AMG Speedshift R automatic for a top speed of 334 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The body is built around a carbon-fibre monocoque.
